Finally got this installed after struggling with the original plastic bracket, and the metal plate makes the lock feel way more secure against the doorframe. The screw holes lined up perfectly with the existing holes, which saved me from drilling anything new.

I was worried the interior assembly might wiggle over time, but this metal plate gives it a rock-solid anchor point. The brushed finish even looks decent against my door.
